Very nice review. I would like to point out, though, that Lightroom 5.2 has the exact same feature set as Lightroom 5.0.1. Nothing major has changed since the release of 5.2 RC, except a few bug fixes. The new smart previews function has only been turned on in the beta releases of 5.2 and are still being refined, as noted in the release notes:
– “Lightroom 5.0 users: you will be automatically upgraded to Lightroom 5.2 when the 5.2 update is released.”
So the 5.2 update is simply an excuse to force me to purchase the full license of Lightroom 5.0, instead of a fixed, discounted priced version. If they upgraded my version of the software, they should have upgraded it correctly and accurately, as you note. But I guess that would have been too easy, and not appealing to their target audience. So they force the upgrade by insinuating that I have a bug in my software. And if you don’t upgrade, you get some kind of crash bug in your software. Well, I’m pretty sure that settles it.
